Moya Brennan - Christmas Tour Dates

An Irish Christmas, Across Ireland

There’s nobody better qualified to warm up the winter crowds and turn their thoughts towards the real story of Christmas than Ireland’s own Moya Brennan. As the voice, heart and soul of Clannad - and dubbed the First Lady of Irish Music - Moya’s forthcoming tour is an essential event in the Christmas calendar.

Having found success with ‘An Irish Christmas’ in 2005, Moya rediscovered the passion for old favourites and new messages. “I’ve been involved in number of other people’s Christmas projects in recent years,” explains Moya, “but I wanted to capture a truly Celtic Christmas feeling. It’s always important to bring the meaning of Christmas to the fore. It is the essence of what I believe in and the album offers both celebration and reflection on that familiar theme.”
The six dates across Ireland run between December 4th and 20th, with a further six German dates woven in throughout. Crowds can expect Moya’s classics with Clannad as well as recent material from her 2006 release ‘Signature’.

04 December: Limerick, St Mary's Church Rathkeale
07 December: Monaghan, Hotel Hillgrove
08 December: Roscommon, Donamon Castle
10 December: Carrick-On-Shannon, St Mary's Church
11 December: Monkstown Dublin, Monkstown Parish Church
20 December: Naul co. Dublin, Seamus Ennis Centre
Further dates for 2009 will be announced soon, including a UK tour in March.

CompassionArt Album Released

CompassionArt, the charity founded by Delirious? front man Martin Smith, releases its first album today. The 14 track album features songs written and performed by some of the biggest talents in Christian music. In January, Paul Baloche, Steven Curtis Chapman, Stu G, Israel Houghton, Tim Hughes, Graham Kendrick, Andy Park, Matt Redman, Martin Smith, Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin and Darlene Zschech gathered together to write the songs.

Four weeks later several of the artists reconvened at London's Abbey Road studios to start recording the songs. Over the coming weeks the album started to take shape, with additional guest vocalists Kirk Franklin, Amy Grant, Joel Houston, Leeland Mooring, Christy Nockels, tobyMac and CeCe Winans. Each of the twelve original writers nominated a charity to which 1/24th of CompassionArt royalties will go to. The remaining 50 per cent of the funds raised will be distributed among projects that CompassionArt wants to give extra support – such as the Watoto community in Uganda. There, orphaned children are given food, shelter, education and a loving, caring home as they rebuild their lives. CompassionArt will provide funding for a series of music and arts centres that support the world-famous Watoto Children's Choir, as well as offering essential training for those wanting to pursue a future in the arts.

Everyone inolved in CompassionArt, from writers to publishers, managers to copyright administrators, have all waived their fees to make sure that all the money generated by the album goes directly to the charity. The CD also includes a bonus DVD containing a 50 min documentary and PDF downloadable music sheets of each song. In the UK the album is also being distributed by mainstream high street retailer WHSmith. The album is set for release in the USA on 27th January 2009. In addition to the CD a CompassionArt book is also being released. In 'The Art Of Compassion', each of the artists writes a chapter highlighting the key issues of the project and offers discussion on the link between worship and justice, art and action.

'Love Will Find A Way' Enters UK Singles Chart At Number 55

The final ever Delirious? single, 'Love Will Find A Way' entered the official UK Singles Chart at number 55 on 23rd November. This was the bands 10th and final UK single before Delirious? comes to an end in 2009. Taken from their recent 'Kingdom Of Comfort' album, the single was available in High Street record stores, online, and for download from iTunes.

In the past 11 years Delirious? have now achieved 10 'Top 75' chart singles, with their biggest hit being 'See The Star' which reached number 16 in 1999. Delirious? described Love Will Find A Way as a "Time to celebrate and send one last anthem out into the charts". Whilst the final single was unable to recapture the height of the bands success of the late 90's, it sees the band going out in a way representative of their phenomenal career.

Unlike almost any UK Christian band that has gone before them, Delirious? have pushed the boundaries between secular and Christian music. Their ability to produce music that fits into two such contrasting markets will be their lasting reptuation. Continually achieving chart positions for singles that have had absolutely no backing from radio, large scale marketing schemes or major record labels can be seen as an unprecedented success.

This remarkable album offers up a brand new soundtrack for all those wondering just how far art and compassion can go to solving some of the world's most pressing issues of injustice. Steven Curtis Chapman Song Demo

A few days ago, Steven Curtis Chapman had the opportunity to visit the Bethesda Naval Medical Center. He's been fortunate to have the chance to meet brave men and women military personnel there, both the wounded and the medical staff.

Two Fridays ago, Steven met Corpsman Thomas McBride. He had been wounded in action in Afghanistan and tragically had lost part of his leg. Steven was deeply moved by this man and the sacrifice he had made for this country. In response and with gratitude to Corpsman McBride and all who have served America, Steven penned a new song, "Thomas McBride." During this week that marks Veterans Day 2008, Steven is making available, via streaming audio, this simple demo he recorded of the new song. Click here to Listen

Graham Kendrick Tour

Graham Kendrick has announced plans to tour his latest album in the run up to Christmas this year, bringing fresh insight and opportunities to the season.
As Graham explains, the decision was a logical one to make; 'Every year since I wrote and recorded Rumours of Angels I have looked forward to writing another set of songs for the Christmas season. This year at last I have felt the time is right and been able to make it a priority. It is quite a challenge for a songwriter writing for the Christmas season, because so much has already been done - it is hard to be original! However I was quickly encouraged with a flow of lyrical concepts and musical ideas, and endedup with more songs than I could fit in.’
The 18 date tour will take in churches, cathedrals, theatres and town halls. Expect Graham’s trademark inspiration and intuition as he narrates the story of the nativity through song.

COMPASSIONART

Today I recieved some information regarding the great new cd Compassionart So read the information below and get excited about this great bran new cd

Prepare For Something Marvelous…

It seemed like a crazy idea at the time – gathering twelve of the most respected Christian songwriters for a week-long retreat in rural Scotland. They’d pay their own way, write together and give up all claim to any royalties earned from the songs. Crazy. Then it got a little more crazy; within a few weeks of the retreat the writers were back together once more at London’s Abbey Road studios to record 14 songs in just three days, emerging with the spine and heart of an album.

And then things got interesting; would the publishers, labels managers and countless other industry personnel join in? Would the Christian scene unite to do something they’d never attempted before? Would they forgo income so that money could be raised to help fight poverty around the world?

The answer was a ‘yes’. A very loud one. And now, a few months later CompassionArt the album is set for release on the 24th November. Featuring 14 songs that stretch and inspire, joining the dots between faith, music and action, CompassionArt brings the heart of worship a little closer to meeting the needs of a world in pain. All proceeds generated from the CD, book and song royalties will support the work of 16 initial projects over the lifetime of these songs.
The four headline projects are Stop The Traffik, Watoto, Ray Of Hope and Hand Of Hope. The brainchild of Martin and Anna Smith, the songwriters including Paul Baloche, Steven Curtis-Chapman, Stuart Garrard, Israel Houghton, Tim Hughes, Graham Kendrick, Andy Park, Matt Redman, Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, Darlene Zschech and several other additional guest performers: Kirk Franklin, Amy Grant, Joel Houston, Christy Nockels, Leeland Mooring, tobyMac and CeCe Winans.

Also included with the CD is a packed DVD – including a 50 minute documentary, trailers, videos and PDF downloads of song and chord charts for all of the tracks. As well as all of this, the writers united to produce a book - The Art of Compassion (to be published by Hodder in November 2008); a twelve chapter unraveling of the trail of worship, hope and justice found in each of the writers’ lives. Back to the album though; what does it all sound like? Hope, justice, peace, enlightenment and truth. Grooves and tunes and melodies that work under the skin and into the heart. Put it another way; these songs sound like the future.

New releases from sixsteps...

Survivor is excited to present you with three new releases from sixsteps. Following on from the success of Arriving and See The Morning – Chris Tomlin returns with his new album HELLO LOVE produced by Ed Cash (who produced both previous albums). Hello Love, communicates what he describes as the “need to introduce ourselves to love again.” The album endeavours to give voice to the Church to worship their Creator. Songs including “Love,” “God of This City,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “I Will Rise,” and “Jesus Messiah” are already impacting worshippers across the globe, as Chris debuts his new music on Passion’s first ever world tour.
Charlie Hall delivers his fourth album, The Bright Sadness. Charlie’s hallmark ‘down to earth’ worship lyrics and ‘just off centre’ sounds are evident here. Creating music for the sole purpose of making God’s name renown The Bright Sadness is a collection of songs that reflect his spiritual journaling these last few years. The album, according to Charlie, “comes from me understanding my ordinary human condition and my deep love for Jesus.” Recorded in Oklahoma City & LA, the project reflects real life struggles, among those themes addressed are brokenness and Christ’s free fellowship, redemption and compassion. Including new material as showcased on the last Passion Live album, God Of This City, (Walk The World and You Are God), and new songs Mystery and Chainbreaker.
Following 3 appearances at Frenzy festival and Passion London, the quirky and joyful experience of David Crowder Band live is one you do not want to miss. When Remedy was released in the USA last year, its launch was followed by a sell out club tour across America including the legendary Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco. This live CD & DVD package captures the joy of worship and all the fun of a David Crowder Band live show – making it a live greatest hits experience, oozing quality and creativity. Including more than 85 minutes of live music shot in high definition! Like a David Crowder Band show……one not be missed!
